The
Child Abduction Alert System is designed to be a
tool for law enforcement to locate missing children that have been
abducted. In order for the system to work efficiently, the following
protocol has been developed for law enforcement:
- The police
must believe that the missing person has been abducted and is
in danger of serious bodily harm or death, and
- The police
have conducted an investigation that has verified the abduction
or ruled out and alternative explanation, or
- The missing
person had a verifiable/documented medical condition that would
endanger life if they were not located within a short period
of time.
- The Child
Abduction Alert System is intented for abducted children younger
than 18 only. However, an exception can be made with good cause
and with the approval of three of the standing board members
of the Tri-State Major Case Squad.
